Take-Two remain tight lipped about GTA 5 release date

There was an interesting Take-Two Q&A with Strauss Zelnick regarding company losses and future plans. No, the name GTA or Grand Theft Auto was not brought up in the discussion. However, what we can tell you is that Zelnick did say there are going to be some details coming out soon about “unannounced titles” which will be released in the upcoming fiscal year. At the same time Zelnick metioned that in the 2013 fiscal year, they have three new releases. Oddly enough he mentioned the names of those and they included BioShock Infinite, Spec Ops: The Line, and Borderlands 2.  So the 2013 fiscal year is from April 2012 to March 2013. See the void? There is a big gaping hole if you look at what was said. No main titles, no mention of GTA 5 at all? Surely to goodness they aren’t going to release GTA 5 in the twillight of the current PS3 and Xbox 360 life cycle. I am back leaning towards an early 2012 release date. I sense though that the lid is about to come off GTA 5 any week now. I’m sick of waiting. How about some details already?

GTA 5 in California – Kids Will Play!

There has been a court ruling in California recently that would have imposed a ban on selling violent video games to children. Nice try, but the courts said nope, not going to happen. In this case the children of California can have sleepless nights like the rest of us as we all await the GTA 5 release date.

Without question, Grand Theft Auto is a sure target of the crusaders against violent video games. Makes sense really but it get carried away. There are those folks claiming video games and violent video game affect behavior. It’s a debate that is endless and there is no hard evidence either way.

Is GTA 5 good for kids. No it isn’t. Will there be a “General” option? Not likely. How in the heck can you have GTA game that takes out the core gameplay? It’s fantasy. It’s a violent as you want it to be. It’s about being a criminal and how can you do that without a bit of good old violence? You can’t. GTA forever!

Sick of waiting for the GTA 5 release date and news?

To answer the question I say yes. We are for sure! The latest rumor we read is that the Official Xbox Magazine mentioned that GTA 5 news would be coming out in late summer 2011. Well that would mean within the next 3 weeks! Okay that would be rather nice!

Face it. There hasn’t been anything worthwhile come out regarding GTA 5 let alone a release date. It seems obvious that 2012 is the year. The only question that I really have right now is the life span of the current gaming consoles. If it’s a late 2012 GTA 5 release date then does it make sense? I just don’t see Rockstar wanting to have a game come out when the news headlines are all talking about PS4 and the next Xbox console. If those new consoles come in 2015, the GTA 5 should be safe. They better hurry up. GTA doesn’t want to compete with PS4 or Xbox 720 news that’s for sure.
